Meet the Doctor
Dr. Ruiz performed his undergraduate studies at the University of Houston.
He completed his professional studies at the University of Houston College
of Optometry in 1981. Dr. Ruiz served as the State Director of the College
of Optometrists in Vision Development from 1991-1994 and on the Board
of Directors from 1994-1996. He is a member of the Texas Optometric
Association, the American Optometric Association, and the Contact Lens
Section of the American Optometric Association. he is also a past president
of the Heart of Texas Optometric Association and the Killen Noon Lions
Club.
In 1992, Dr. Ruiz was certified by the Texas Optometry Board in the
examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders
of the visual system, the eye and associated structures as well as the
diagnosis of related systemic conditions.
In 2002, Dr. Ruiz was certified as an Optometric Glaucoma specialist
by the Texas Optometry Board in the diagnosis and treatment of Glaucoma.
Consultation and Lectures: In addition to lecturing
on vision to local school and educators, Dr. Ruiz also addresses PTA's
and service groups.
